Michael John DeBono
2.9.1982 – 2.11.1990
Michael joined the Mill Park Football Club at the beginning of 1990 and was very excited to finally be playing footy. He especially loved the pie nights.
All week he would look forward to Friday night training with his mates and then be impatient for the game on Sunday morning. He loved running out onto the oval to play for the Mill Park Blues.
Football become an important part of Michael’s life during that year, and he also enjoyed swimming and gymnastics. In summer, he loved water skiing.
If he had have been able to have his own way, Michael would have been doing some sort of sport every night of the week. Like his father and sister, Michael barracked for Collingwood and was absolutely rapt when they won the premiership during 1990.
We feel very honoured that the Mill Park Football Club play the annual ‘DeBono’ match between the two Under 9 teams, in Michael’s memory and we thank everyone involved.
